ITINERARIES IN LANGA, WALKING

ROUTES IN LANGA

Slow, the way we like it, you will be able to experience the area slowly, being fascinated step by step by the colorful rolling hills full of unique features. As you walk through the mountains and reach the panoramic viewpoints, you will feel as if you are inside a postcard, but this is not a dream; reality will present itself before your eyes, presenting the most beautiful things that can have been created by nature and the passage of time.

The Langhe is dotted with medieval castles that look like something out of a fairy tale. The Castle of Grinzane Cavour and Serralunga are just two examples. Walking with castles as a panorama and as landmarks is a pleasure you will surely remember

Organized Langhe tours: a food and wine experience

Introduction to organized tours in Italy

Organized tours in Italy are optimal for an authentic experience in this beautiful country. You can find organized tours available in many parts of Italy. There are tours of many types, among which I would like to point out the new food and wine tours, always interspersed with visits to cities but above all excursions in the magnificent nature. An organized tour allows you to enjoy the experience without worrying about organizing everything yourself, finding times and addresses, and choosing from the many possibilities that might interest you.

Are you looking for an authentic experience in Italy?

We recommend an organized tour to the Langhe, a region not yet so well known to tourism, enclosed in Piedmont, northwest Italy. Organized Langhe tours are the perfect choice if you love good food, wine, and general experiences with the flavor of authenticity. Here are some ideas for managing your Tour in Italy, especially in the Langhe.

I mentioned that the Langhe is an extensive, hilly area in Piedmont, northwest of Italy. Known and famous for its fine wines, most notably Barolo and Barbaresco. If you are a food and wine enthusiast, an organized tour of the Langhe may be an ideal choice. During the Tour, you can visit famous, small, and authentic local wineries to taste some of the best wines in the world. In addition, you will have the chance to taste the local cuisine and discover the region’s gastronomic specialties—all with a side dish of unforgettable views.

What you should expect from a Langhe tour, organized just for you

During a tour of this part of Italy, you will have the opportunity to discover the region’s beauty. You can choose from many times on your own or, if you prefer, have a guide accompany you on the Tour. During the winery tours, you will always be accompanied by staff, often by the owner, who will accompany you in discovering the magical world of winemaking. Excellent gastronomic products and tasting workshops will be obligatory stops. You will find the region’s natural beauty, such as rolling hills and breathtaking landscapes.

Organized Langhe tours are available by many “means”: by bike, Vespa, on foot, by car, or by rental car, with driver or without. It all depends on your preferences and budget. Some tours focus exclusively on food and wine, while others also include visits to medieval castles and villages. With a particular emphasis on the surrounding nature, this area was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014!

How to choose an organized Langhe tour

By now, many tour operators have discovered this beautiful area of Italy. They have created more extended packages and more or less essential budgets. I recommend that you choose a reliable, quality local tour operator if you want to guarantee a memorable experience. Here are some factors to consider when selecting an organized Langhe tour (but which generally apply whenever you will have to make these choices):

  1. Experience: Choose a tour operator with established experience in the Langhe region. This way, you’ll be sure to have up-to-date information and can discover lesser-known corners as well!
  2. Customer reviews: Read customer reviews on tour operator websites or TripAdvisor. This way, you can understand the experiences offered to those before you!
  3. Services offered: Check the services provided by the tour operator, such as transportation, a guide, wine tasting, and lunch. Make sure the price includes all the services you want. See if they already have well-described packages with the price highlighted. Combined, these packages are already a trip you can tailor to you—and definitely without any price surprises!
  4. Price: Choose an organized Langhe tour within your budget. However, remember that price should not be the only factor to consider. It is essential to constantly evaluate the service’s value for money.

FAQs on Langhe tours

I refer you to this article, “Langhe when to go.”

  • How many days are needed to visit the Langhe?

The average length of a good tour for the initial discovery of the Langhe ranges from one day to three days. That said, it’s up to you. The Langhe has many activities, so even a more extended vacation can be engaging!

There are many wineries to visit if your goal is a Wine Tour—some famous ones like Ceretto, Vietti, Bruno Giacosa, Gaja, and Prunotto. If you arrived on this page, something about us intrigued you. Here you will find ABOUT US, choose a Tour, and then CONTACT US. We will arrange a fantastic Tour in the Langhe, just for you (isn’t it, for everyone who wants to discover this beautiful area of Piedmont!).

  • How to get around the Langhe

I respond by advising you:

Tour of the Langhe by car

If you have decided to come to Piedmont for a short or more extended vacation, I recommend that you have a car. The Tour of the Langhe can then be better organized. Public services are not so convenient to be able to manage your travels in the best way.

In one of the articles published on our blog, I had hypothesized just such a tour of the Langhe by car, looking for castles: Castles of the Langhe, Between Middle Ages and Vineyards. But many of our wine tours or food tours involve just the vehicle.

On our pages, you can also choose Tours by other means of transportation, such as bike, Vespa, or trekking. If you’d like public transport, I recommend arriving by train, with connections from Turin every hour. Then, I’ll arrange a day with a chauffeur-driven car so you don’t have to think about anything. Enjoy the view and even have a glass of wine without the hassle of dealing with driving a car!

Connections are departing from Alba to the many villages in the Langhe, but it isn’t easy to match schedules to make the most of a short vacation!

  • Which villages to visit in the Langhe?

I’ll leave you with a few suggestions for your next Tour of the Langhe:

The road to get to Barolo already offers breathtaking views; any season is perfect for filling your eyes and your heart as you travel through the rolling hills leading to your destination. In Barolo, you can walk along characteristic small streets where you will find historic wineries, wine bars, and restaurants to enjoy a great lunch or dinner. In addition, you will discover WiMu: the wine museum and the corkscrew museum, two must-see stops when visiting the Langhe. WiMu is located inside the Castello dei Marchesi Falletti, where Silvio Pellico and Giulia di Barolo lived. Finally, seeing the Castle of La Volta, in Bussia (2.5 km from Barolo), you will be fascinated if you love legends.
Orange flag of the Touring Club of the Italian hinterland, a small town in the Langhe with less than three thousand inhabitants but with an infinite number of stories to tell. Walking through the streets of the center, it is possible to visit the church of the Confraternity of San Sebastiano, with a small bookstore available to tourists to present authors from Piedmont and the Langhe.

From La Morra, start seven trails that can be walked in the company. Thanks to their simplicity and walking, it will be possible to discover panoramic views, woods, and unique landscapes. Trekking trails in the Langhe offer landscapes rich in vineyards; the Langhe territory includes part of the 43,500 hectares of vineyards (about 7% of Italy’s vineyard) of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato. To celebrate the hard work that goes into the field, right in La Morra, there is the monument to the Vignaiolo d’Italia.

Barbaresco has only one street: via Torino, a small but cozy street that leads to the thousand-year-old tower with its panoramic terrace. Thanks to the map on the terrace, you will discover the points of the Langhe below. Finally, you’ll find a deconsecrated church that now houses the Enoteca del Barbaresco. In short, if the pleasures of life are made up of small beautiful things, why not enjoy a quiet walk, a glass of wine, and a unique sunset?
Among the most beautiful villages in Italy is Neive, the village from which you can admire beautiful landscapes from the center of the village. It sounds like magic, yet it is; Neive fascinates and amazes; if you haven’t discovered it yet, it’s time to do so.
]Home of the regional wine shop that selects the great labels of the territory to offer them to all enthusiasts and the curious, a wide choice in one place to buy and discover the great wines of Piedmont. The Langhe hills are a great destination for the end of a vacation or weekend. Just inside Grinzane Castle, where the wine shop is located, the ‘Order of the Knights of the Truffle and Wines of Alba was born in 1967; it is an ancient food and wine confraternity born in Grinzane Cavour. To enhance and defend the area’s culture and the traditions of Piedmontese cuisine and local wines.[/accordion_item]
More city, less countryside, the capital of the Langhe, famous for the Truffle Fair and the Kinder egg company. Alba is a city to visit on foot by immersing yourself in the historic center, visiting the Duomo, and delving into the eateries that offer Piedmontese cuisine at different times.
.

Finally, I will leave you with the Guide to Langhe Roero and Monferrato, the page dedicated to Trips in the Langhe.

If you are considering taking a tour of the Langhe, you are on the right page. I am a “langhetta” who lives in the Roero. I know these hills and have traveled them on foot, by bicycle, car, and Vespa. I have chosen to convert my love for this land into my work. Every new corner I get to know inspires me a new experience to propose.

All I can say is: I’m waiting for you!
