Trekking weekend in the Langhe and Roero

Langhe-Roero_weekend-trekking

Walking is the Slowest activity to practice!

Our Langhe walking tours are perfect if you want to discover the Piedmontese Langhe and like walking among beautiful vineyards. We thought of this proposal for those who like to hike amid nature, enveloped by the Langhe vineyards’ colors and their beauty. The Langhe is a succession of small villages, castles, scenic roads, and paths in the middle of the woods and vineyards. It is a true wonder to walk in!

Thanks to our App, you won’t have to fear getting lost: it will follow every step of your Langhe outings.

We will send you your route with our guide for the most beautiful spots and planned stops.

We have come up with three formulas between Langhe and Roero.

Different duration, different hills. The colors will change with the seasons. A trek to be repeated!

Choose your Formula

Formula A two nights and three walks

    • Overnight stay in Alba or the hills, two nights with breakfast
    • Tasting in the Barolo area a sampling of fine wines during a walk in the Barolo Langhe

Organization of the day: You will receive a schedule with addresses and times of booked visits. The facilities are all selected and checked over time. Customer feedback is a constant method of control for us, but we supplement it with regular visits to renew trust with SlowDays partner providers

Discover the Magic of the Langhe and Roero with Our Walking Tours.

If you dream of a trekking weekend in Piedmont, where you can combine trekking amid nature and the beauty of the Langhe and Roero vineyards, this tour is suitable. Our walking tours in the Langhe are designed especially for you. Find out why this experience is unique:

A Perfect Combination of Nature and Tradition

Piedmont’s Langhe and the neighboring Roero are world-famous for their landscapes and vineyards that draw hills as far as the eye can see. With our walking tours, you can live in a setting of extraordinary natural beauty. As you walk among the vineyards, you will appreciate the work in the vineyards, the vines at various stages of grapes ripening, smell the scent of the greenery around you, and admire the hills on the horizon. It is an experience that engages all your senses and brings you closer to the Langhe winemaking tradition in a unique way.

  • Are the treks very strenuous? Our treks are never too strenuous, and you will not have to deal with great elevation gain. We know that every person is different, so you can also tell us when booking if you would like just a few short walks or if you would like to try your hand at a slightly more intense day.
  • Can I book at any time? Let’s say the Langhe and Roero uniquely appeal in spring and fall. Summer can be sweltering, and the trek may be more challenging. So I recommend that you consider this tour from mid-March through the end of June and from mid-September through almost the end of November.
  • Clothing recommendations? Classic “onion” clothing is always recommended. Even in October, you may find yourself walking in a simple T-shirt or, in June, needing a 100-gram breakfast!

What to see in the Roero?

Certainly, the landscapes are more rugged, and the colors are contrasting. We find vineyards but also many orchards, woods, and Rocche.

The Roero area pleases because it allows for long walks in still virgin areasvirgin and offers passages in the woods where birds are the only sound.

Rock formations, the Rocche del Roero, occur in many areas, creating eventful vistas. In Sommariva Perno and Monteu Roero or Magliano and Castellinaldo, much of the Roero trails follow and cross the Rocche.

Its wines are no less impressive, either. The excellent Roero wine has a beautiful ruby color and a strong, aromatic flavor. But whites such as Arneis and Favorita are also excellent in this area.

Besides wine, fruit is significant in the economy of the Roero area. Strawberries, Peaches, Plums, Pears, and the Madernassa Pear are even DOP and have a Slow Food mention.

What to see in Guarene:

Guarene is part of the circuit of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages thanks to its heritage, which is well preserved, both from an urban and architectural point of view. Recently, a widespread policy has enhanced and promoted the area. In the historic center you find three buildings protected by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage: the church of the Santissima Annunziata, the Re Rebaudengo palace and the castle of Guarene. In recent years, Guarene has also repeatedly proposed itself as a center for cultural events in the Roero and has hosted world-renowned artists several times. A beautiful open-air exhibition, with fixed or variable installations, colors and distinguishes the beginning of a walk overlooking the castle.

  • Guarene Castle: The castle of Guarene is a magnificent manor that dominates and watches over this small village. A spectacular park surrounds this majestic 18th-century building and is a testament to Baroque architecture. Today, it has become a 5* hotel frequented by celebrities who arrive discreetly.
  • St. Michael’s Church: This historic church is another jewel of Guarene. Dating back to the 13th century, it has an elegant facade and an interior richly decorated with sacred artwork.
  • Old Town: For a picturesque stroll, walk the streets of Guarene’s old town. You will find old stone houses, quaint stores, and a pleasant traditional atmosphere.
